Crafted from valley grown Ortega grapes blended with a dash of Geisenheim, this wine pairs well with coconut curries, Indian cuisine, chicken, pork, seafood or mild cheese.
The 2017 growing season started off fairly typical. Spring and summer delivered a little more rain than usual but the growing season was otherwise on par with most of the last decade. A particularly warm fall, with many warm nights through October and in to November, led to an above average level of ripeness in the grapes as well as lower than usual acidity.
This wine was fermented in stainless steel to maintain clean, fresh fruit flavours. The Ortega was cold fermented completely dry and blended with some Geisenheim 318 to add a touch of sweetness and some balancing acidity.
On the nose this wine shows notes of pineapple, mango, ginger and allspice. The palate shows ripe fruit leading to citrus and floral finish.
